Sep. 30 2020 News By Cameron Nichols

Wednesday, September 30, 2020 – Palmer Trucks, a third-generation, family-owned Kenworth dealer group, is now accepting applications for an apprenticeship program across the Midwest. In partnership with the American Diesel Training Center of Cincinnati, students will get real, hands-on experience and education as part of a ten-week program. The Palmer Trucks Training Academy coincides with real, in-practice work at the apprentice’s desired home shop within the Palmer Trucks dealer network.

ADTC CEO Tim Spurlock is passionate about informing prospective diesel technicians about the enormous career potential available to them. He says, “A career as a diesel technician presents unlimited opportunities for motivated individuals. There is no better place to learn how a shop runs than working as a tech. More importantly, starting out as a technician provides an unlimited gateway to future opportunities, from master technician, to service manager, to dealer management. Many presidents and CEOs in the transportation industry started their careers as diesel technicians.”

Palmer Trucks’ Jacob Nichols is a third-generation owner and is passionate about matching hard-working individuals with great careers and development opportunities. He adds, “Palmer Trucks is excited to pair eager-to-learn, hard-working men and women from all walks of life with rewarding, long-term careers. The transportation industry is expanding faster than the available pool of technicians, and we’re excited to welcome more talented people to our family-focused team.”

An Indiana company celebrating 55 years, Palmer Trucks offers competitive compensation, along with benefits including health, vision, dental, life, and supplemental insurance. Other perks and benefits include ongoing training and development, a tool box program, and paid vacation. Openings currently exist in Fort Wayne, Terre Haute and Indianapolis, Ind., as well as Effingham, Ill. Other Palmer Trucks locations are also eligible for the program.
