Kenworth C580: The Next Evolution of Extreme-Duty Trucking
For more than 50 years, Kenworth’s C500 has been the benchmark for extreme-duty trucks. It earned its reputation in oilfields, mines, logging operations, and remote job sites across the world.
Now, a new chapter begins.
Unveiled at CONEXPO-CON/AGG in March 2026, the all-new Kenworth C580 is set to replace the legendary C500, with production scheduled to begin in January 2027.
Built for the toughest jobs and the harshest environments, the C580 carries forward the proven capability of its predecessor while introducing Kenworth’s most advanced cab platform to the extreme-duty segment.

Kenworth C580 Specs: GVW Ratings, Axle Configurations & Off-Road Capability
The Kenworth C580 handles applications where standard trucks cannot operate. It offers up to 1,000,000 pounds of gross vehicle weight ratings, twin steer axle ratings up to 44,000 pounds, and tandem rear axle ratings up to 165,000 pounds.
Available configurations include 4×4, 6×6, 8×8, and 10×10, giving fleets the flexibility to match demanding off-road, heavy haul, and specialized vocational needs.
To withstand punishing conditions, the C580 features abrasion-resistant wiring harnesses, five-piece crossmembers, and full-length parent rails designed for long-term durability.
Up front, a sheet metal butterfly hood and fenders house a 1,780 square-inch cooling module.
It manages high-horsepower engines in stationary, high-altitude, and extreme conditions.
Engine & Transmission Options: Cummins HELM X15, Allison & Eaton Endurant XD Pro
North American models will be powered by the Cummins HELM X15. It delivers up to 605 horsepower and 2,050 lb-ft of torque while meeting EPA 2027 emissions standards at launch.
Transmission options include Allison 4000 and 6000 series automatics, manual gearboxes and the Eaton Endurant XD Pro AMT, marking a major advancement in extreme-duty drivetrain choices.

Kenworth C580 Cab Features: T880 Platform, 15-Inch Display & ADAS Technology
The C580 shares its cab platform with the Kenworth T880, bringing major advantages for both drivers and body upfitters.
Drivers benefit from a larger windshield, improved hood visibility, and a 15-inch HD display.
Additional features include SmartWheel®, an electronic park brake, and available Advanced Driver-Assistance Systems (ADAS).
For body builders and upfitters already familiar with the T880 platform, the shared electrical architecture helps simplify integration and streamline the transition to the new model.
